GAME OVERVIEW:

REVERE, MA. – The #2 seed Lesley Lynx softball team moved into the winners' bracket on day one of the NECC Softball Tournament by defeating the #3 seed New England College. The Lynx took down the Pilgrims by a score of 14-0 in five innings.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • NECC Player of the Year Jordan Day was electric for the Lynx on the mound and at the plate in this one. Day got the scoring started for the Lynx with a two-run home run to centerfield to drive in Mahlia Medina in the bottom of the first.
  • Lesley added two more in the second inning, on singles by Medina to score Sam Jensen and by Day to score Victoria Lujan. Through all of this, Day was dominant on the mound, allowing only two baserunners in the first two innings on a walk and hit-by-pitch.
  • The fourth inning was the big one for the Lynx. Day drove in her fourth run of the afternoon on a base hit and then scored on a bomb into the parking lot by Riley Pickett. Sam Jensen followed later with a two-run double and back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Medina. Medina drove in one run on a fielder's choice. The bases remained loaded for Day, who cleared them with her second home run of the day, a grand slam to straight away center for RBIs number five through eight on the day.
  • Day earned the win in fashion, throwing a no-hitter and striking out five batters over five innings. She allowed only three baserunners: the walk, the hit batter, and one reaching on an error. Taylor Barbour took the loss for the Pilgrims, allowing twelve runs in 3.2 innings.
