GAME OVERVIEW:

REVERE, MA. – The Lesley Lynx softball team finished out the regular season against the Eastern Nazarene Lions, with ENC taking both game of the doubleheader. Lesley finishes at 13-5, while the Lions finish at 20-5 (14-4 in the conference).

INSIDE GAME 1:

• The Lions got out ahead right out the gate, scoring five runs in the first inning. Taylor Brandt took advantage of the first three batters reaching and drove in two of them with a double. She and Bailey Olaveson later scored on another double by Janelle Munoz in the same inning.
• The Lynx made some mistakes in the field that allowed the Lions to take advantage of their baserunners. ENC put up three more runs in the third and two in the fouth, all off of Lynx pitcher Kara Haga. It was enough to end the game in five innings.
• Alex Schwenger and Aurora Adams were both 3-for-4 at the top of the Lions order. Rebecca Hayner had three RBI, while Brandt and Munoz each had two. Kristen DiCicco was 2-for-2 for Lesley, but Munoz was efficient and effective on the mound for the Lions.
• Haga took her second loss of the season, while Munoz earned her 11th win. She struck out two in the shutout.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• The Lynx honored their senior class of 2021 between games and Riley Pickett took that energy into her first at-bat. Pickett tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the first when she crushed a home run down the left field line, just keeping it in fair territory.
• Pickett's homer was the only run and one of only three hits for the Lynx in game two. Munoz was excellent again on her way to her 12th win of the year. DiCicco and Jordan Day were the only two other Lynx to pick up hits in the second game.
• Adams finished with three hits again, while Hayner and Olaveson each had two for the Lions. Olaveson crushed a grand slam in a six-run top of the sixth for ENC to put the game out of reach.
• Despite taking the loss, Day struck out her 350th career batter on the mound.

UP NEXT:

The Lynx head into the postseason as the number two seed in the NECC. They will take the field again next weekend, times and dates TBD.
