GAME OVERVIEW:

HENNIKER, NH – The Lesley Lynx softball team had their winning streak ended, but did split the doubleheader with New England College today, losing the first game 10-5 and winning the second 7-3. Lesley advances to 13-3 on the season, while the Pilgrims move to 11-4 (7-4 in the conference).

INSIDE GAME 1:

• Lesley went down 4-1 early in game one, with Destiny Helmedach leading the way NEC. Helmedach drove in their first run with a base hit in the first inning and reached on an error to drive in another run in the third inning.
• Sam Jensen kept the Lynx in it by driving in Ilana Zack in the fourth inning. In the sixth, the Lynx were able to tie it up when Tara Eldredge scored on a wild pitch and Mahlia Medina drove in Lindsey Jensen on a base hit.
• The Pilgrims became the first team to figure out Jordan Day on the mound, handing her her first loss of the season. They were able to score six runs in the bottom of the sixth off to go up 10-4. Sam Jensen would not go quietly, driving Zack in again with a double in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough.
• Day walked four and allowed four runs in only 0.2 innings pitched. Taylor Barbour picked up the win for the Pilgrims to move to 6-2 this season. Cam Leclaire, Chanel Welch, Kaitlyn Simpson, and Destiny Cardona all had two hits for NEC, while both Jenses had two hits for the Lynx.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• Day bounced back in game 2 to bring the Lynx their thirteenth win of the season. Lindsey Jensen got Lesley started early with a base hit to score Sam, then followed with her second home run of the season in the fourth to put the Lynx up 3-0.
• The fourth inning was huge for Lesley, with Jensen's home run and Day helping herself out, driving in a run on a double and scoring on a single by Riley Pickett.
• Zack added some insurance in the top of the sixth with yet another double, keeping her in the league lead position, to score Day. Medina also had a sacrifice fly in the seventh for the finishing touches.
• Day advanced to 7-1 with the win, striking out five in a complete game. Emily Farone took the loss, allowing seven runs but only five earned.

The Lynx hit the road for a doubleheader against Eastern Nazarene on Saturday May 1st, with first pitch of game one at 12 PM.
