GAME OVERVIEW:

REVERE, MA – The Lesley Lynx softball team pushed their winning streak to nine straight games with a doubleheader sweep over the New England College Pilgraims, by scores of 4-0 and 9-0. Lesley advances to 12-2 on the season, while the Pilgrims fall to 10-4 (6-4 in the conference).

INSIDE GAME 1:

• The Lynx were able to take advantage of more opportunities than the Pilgrims in a pitcher's duel between Kara Haga and NEC's Taylor Barbour. Both pitchers were able to keep runners from crossing the plate until the fourth inning, though the Pilgrims threatened a couple of times.
• Lesley finally pushed one across in the bottom of the fourth when Ilana Zack drove Riley Pickett in with a double. Pickett found herself on third base after advancing to second on a wild pitch, taking a wide turn, and drawing a throw from Barbour that ended up in center field.
• Mahlia Medina provided some insurance for the Lynx in the bottom of the fifth, driving in Victoria Lujan and Lindsey Jensen with a base hit and eventually stealing home after Pickett drew a throw from the catcher to second base.
• Haga was excellent getting out of jams for Lesley, getting out of two bases loaded jams over seven shutout innings. Medina threw out a runner at the plate to keep the game tied early on and Haga handled it from there. She struck out seven to earn her fifth win of the season. Barbour struck out nine, but allowed three earned runs to take her second loss.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• The Lynx did not wait around in game two, putting Pilgrims' pitcher Emily Farone on the spot early. Zack was the culprit again, sending Jordan Day home. She and Pickett then scored on an RBI single by Antonia Kieran to put Lesley up 3-0 in the bottom of the first.
• The second inning was the biggest for the Lynx. Day drove Lindsey Jensen in on a triple, then scored on a bloop single by Pickett, who then moved to third after throwing errors. Pickett then became Zack's 20th RBI of the season and Zack was driven in on Kieran's fourth home run of the season, a huge shot to left center.
• Day was nearly perfect on the mound once again, allowing only two baserunners (one hit and one walk) in four scoreless innings. She struck out six batters, while Samantha Mecklenburg picked up one K in one inning to finish out the game. Day is now 6-0 this season. The Lynx have thrown four straight shutouts during this winning streak.

The Lynx hope to keep rolling as they travel to NEC for a doubleheader on Saturday APril 24th, with first pitch at 12 PM.
