GAME OVERVIEW:

REVERE, MA. – The Lesley Lynx softball team exploded for thirty-two total runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Elms Blazers, winning by scores of 11-2 and 20-0, both in five innings. Lesley now sits at 6-2 on the season, while the Blazers fall to 0-6.

INSIDE GAME 1:

• The Lynx were in control early with two runs coming in the bottom of the first. Riley Pickett drove in Mahlia Medina with a base hit and then scored on a double by Ilana Zack.
• The middle of the Lynx order, led by Pickett, was on fire in the first game. Pickett was 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in. Zack and Jordan Day each added three hits as well, while Medina scored three runs from the leadoff spot. All of Zack's hits in game one were doubles, adding to her NECC-leading total of nine.
• Day and Zack are also ranked second in third in batting average in the NECC so far this season. Day is hitting .607 for the second spot, with Zack sliding in behind her at .593.
• Kara Haga was tremendous on the mound for the Lynx, allowing two earned runs and striking out eight batters in her five innings of work. Mackenzie Francis took the loss for Elms after allowing eight runs in three innings.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• Once again, Lesley was at work early in the second game. Antonia Kieran doubled to drive in two runs in the bottom of the first and her hit was followed by back-to-back bases loaded walks for Victoria Lujan and Lindsey Jensen. Medina then came up for her second at-bat of the inning and delivered a grand slam off the top of the fence in right field for her third homer of the season.
• After scoring eight in the first, the Lynx added one more run in the third on a bomb by Day and exploed again for eleven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it a round twenty in game two.
• Capping off the last big inning was Lindsey Jensen's first collegiate home run, good for a grand slam to drive in her sister Sam, Lujan, and Tara Eldredge. Jensen finished game two with six runs batted in and three runs scored.
• Every started in the Lynx lineup recorded at least one hit, with Medina and Day each dropping three. Medina finished with five runs batted in, while Day had three and Kieran had two.
• Day was nearly flawless on the mound as she shut down the Blazers lineup, allowing only one hit and one walk, while striking out five for her third win of the season. Samantha Mecklenburg pitched the final inning, also allowing a walk and a hit but keeping the shutout preserved.
