CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Elms College junior Kordel Latimer (Lynn, Mass) had a team-high eight kills while classmate Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) and freshman Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) each chipped in with seven to lead the Blazers to a 3-0 win (25-8, 25-6, 25-6) over the Lynx today at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. Elms, who snapped a six-game losing streak with a win over Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Thursday, improve to 11-12 on the year and 4-4 in New England Collegiate Conference play. The Lynx drop to 0-13 on the season and 0-8 in the league.

Leading the way for Lesley was junior Melvin Morales (Chelsea, Mass.) who had a team-high seven kills and four digs while freshman Jess Cherry (Lancaster, Pa.) led the team with ten assists. Sophomore Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass) added a block while classmate Herbin Berreondo (Brighton, Mass.) had 1.5 total blocks.

Elms hit the ball extremely well, finishing with at .510 for the match. Rainey led the squad hitting .778 on his nine attempts while Latimer and Vautrin finished at .538 and .545, respectively. Junior setter Kevin Welsh (Wilbraham, Mass.) connected for two kills on his three attempts and dished out a match-high 23 assists.

The Blazers serve was in full force as well, connecting for 14 total aces throughout the match. Welsh led the team with five while Rainey and freshman Roger Conklin (Chicopee, Mass) each had three.

Lesley returns to the court Tuesday, March 26th when they travel to Regis College. The game was re-scheduled from Tuesday, March 19th.
