Eagles Sweep by Lynx

Nashua, N.H.Joe Walz  (East Longmeadow, Mass.) knocked down a match-high 10 kills and hit .750 with one error in 12 attempts, while Joe Hendrix (Kane'ohe, Haw.) added six kills in eight attempts helping guide host Daniel Webster past Lesley, 3-0 in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday at Mario Vagge Gymnasium. 

Tyler Little (Marlboro, Mass.) and Darrien Mason (Farmington, Conn.) added five kills apiece and the Eagles hit .571 as a team earning set scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-14 and improved to 9-6 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 5-0. 

The win sets up an early season showdown for first place in the NECC as the Eagles host Endicott (11-4, 6-0 NECC) on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Nashua. Endicott topped the Eagles, 3-1 in a non-league matchup back on January 27th. DWC is now 9-2 in their last 11 matches after a 0-4 start. 

Kyle Clement (Weymouth, Mass.) dished out 19 assists for the victors, while Ariel Frias (Lawrence, Mass.) added 15. 

CJ Sutton (Billerica, Mass.) and Melvin Morales (Chelsea, Mass.) led the Lynx (0-11, 0-5 NECC) with six kills apiece. Jess Cherry (Lancaster, Penn.) added seven assists and six digs. 

DWC trailed only twice throughout the match, 4-3 and 5-4 in the opening set. The Eagles hit .455 in the opener with three kills each from Mason and Ryan Howdeshell (Fairbanks, Alaska), hit .588 in the second keyed by three kills from Walz, and finished hitting .667 with seven Walz kills and four from Hendrix in the third.
