CAMBRIDGE, MA – Emerson College knocked off Lesley University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-11), in non-conference men's volleyball play Monday night at the Nicholas Athletics Center.

            Led by junior outside hitter Nadav Swarttz (Newton, MA/Newton South), the Lions posted a .368 team hitting percentage, including an even .500 average in a match-clinching Game 3 victory. Swarttz hit .647, throwing down 11 kills on 17 attempts as the Lions improved to 2-0. Senior setter Stephen Selnick orchestrated the offense, handing out 30 assists in the win.  

            Lesley sophomore Max Hoevenaar (Orlando, FL/Castle Christian) led all players with a pair of solo blocks, freshman Brian Hicks (Lowell, MA/Lowell) led the Lynx with eight digs, and senior Christian Domingo added seven.

            The night started on a more positive note that it would end on for the Lynx. A Domingo (Los Angeles, CA/College of Canyons) kill tied the opening set at six, and a pair of Lions errors re-tied it at 8-8. A 5-0 Emerson run featuring a pair of Eric Doherty (Millis, MA/Millis) kills made it a 13-8 game, and four straight points with Doherty serving extended the lead to 22-12 in the visitors' 25-14 victory.

            A 5-0 run with Doherty at serve led to an early Lynx timeout in the middle set, which saw Emerson open up an 8-1 lead compliments of two kills each from Swarttz and Doherty. A 6-0 run with Frank O'Sullivan (Ottawa, ON/De La Salle) at serve put the Lions ahead by double figures for good in their 25-8 victory.

            Domingo's first service ace of the year sent the Lynx out to a 3-2 lead in Game 3, but two of Nate Chivers' (Wilbraham, MA/Winnechaug) four kills gave Emerson the lead at 6-3. Conor Burton's (Valencia, CA) third kill of the set increased the Lions lead to 10-6, and Burton ended the match with a kill to lock up the 25-11 victory.

            Lesley returns to the court in NECC play at Regis College on Thursday, when Emerson plays host to Rivier College in GNAC action.
