Men's volleyball drops opener at WIT, 0-3

BOSTON -- Lesley Universiy men's volleyball dropped its 2012 season opener, falling 0-3 at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

WIT won by the scores of 10-25, 12-25 and 11-25, with sophomore Ross Burdett turning a match-best 12 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.

Wentworth committed zero errors and hit .455 as a team in their opening set win. In the middle set the Lynx took three early leads, but 13 kills from the Leopards were too much to overcome. Burdett recorded six kills as WIT hit .450 as a team to seal the match in the third.

Christian Domingo and Max Hoevenaar led the Lynx attack with seven and five kills, respectively, set up by a eight assists from setter Melvin Morales.

Defensively, Hoevenaar totaled eight digs and freshman Brian Hicks added six in his collegiate debut. Junior Alex Zhitnik chipped in with four in his first match as a Lynx.

The Leopards even their record at 1-1, while Lesley moves to 0-1.

Lesley returns to play on Tuesday, January 31 in Providence, RI at Johnson & Wales at 7:00 p.m.
