ATTLEBORO, MA -- After an outstanding freshman season in which he ranked among the team leaders in nearly every statistical category, Lesley outside hitter William Lau has been named All-NECC Honorable Mention, the league announced Monday afternoon.
At the net, Lau was second on the team in kills (143) and third in kills per set (1.70). Defensively, he finished second in digs (215) and digs per set (2.56). Also a skilled passer, the 5-10 hitter temporarily filled in as the Lynx setter, placing second on the team in assists (67) and assists per set (0.80).
On March 15 at Emerson, Lau set Lesley's single-season digs record, as he became the first Lynx player with over 200 digs in a season. His mark of 215 digs was overcome by teammate Tyler Reeves' 222, putting Lau's first year with Lesley in second place on the team's all-time single-season digs list.
Lau and the Lynx finished 2011 winning their final two games, both 3-0 decisions over Regis.
