WESTON, Mass. – In their first match back after spring break, the Lesley University men's volleyball team handed Regis College a 3-0 (30-12, 31-29, 30-16) loss behind 20 kills from senior Scott Wheeler (EAST HAMPTON, Conn./East Hampton). The Lynx improved to 3-14 while the Pride dropped to 4-17.
Wheeler committed just two errors as he has had a stellar .667 hit percentage in the match. His 20 kills were a season and career-high for the outside hitter who leads Lesley in that category. He also had nine digs in the win.
Junior Zachary Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) was second on the team with eight kills with just one error but for the fifth time this season had double-digit digs with a match-high 16. Almeida-Beers also had two solo blocks and a block assist in the match.
The Lynx won the first set easily at 30-12 but in the second set, the Pride held match point but failed to even the match at 1-1. Lesley stormed back and won 31-29 to lead the match 2-0. Regis was led in the match by Andrew Carroll (NATICK, Mass./Natick) who had a team-high nine kills with just one error for a .400 hit percentage.
Also contributing in the match for the Lynx was senior Nick Assad (ANDOVER, Mass./Andover) who added seven kills for a Lesley offensive attack that had a .381 hit percentage as a team.
Lesley will be back in action this Saturday, March 20 in a tri-match against Emmanuel College and Albertus Magnus College held in Boston.
