CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Zachary Almeida-Beers (REHOBOTH,
Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) spiked home a team-high
11 kills but it was not enough to withhold the Wentworth Institute
of Technology attack. The Leopards won 3-0 (30-21, 30-19, 30-28),
improving to 12-6 (7-3 NECVA) while the Lynx dropped to 2-13 (2-10
NECVA, 2-4 NECC).
Almeida-Beers attempted 20 total attacks but had just one error in
the entire match. He had a .500 hit percentage.
Three players from Wentworth had with double-digit kills with
Derek Portugal (BARRINGTON, R.I./Barrington) and
Dan Mulvey (HALIFAX, Mass./Silver Lake Regional)
leading the way with 11 kills apiece. Junior Tom Ceurvels
(WEYMOUTH, Mass./Weymouth) chipped in with 10 kills and
also tallied 13 digs defensively in the win.
Leopards middle hitter Lowell Jesmer (ROCHESTER,
N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) was also effective on the attack with
eight kills on 15 total attacks and a .400 hit percentage. Setter
Tyler Moriarty (WILBRAHAM, Mass./Minnechaug
Regional) dished out 43 assists in the match.
Lynx setter Stephen Siragusa (VALLEY STREAM, N.Y./Valley
Stream) tallied 23 assists and tied teammate Matt Sullivan (WORCESTER, Mass./St. John's Shrewsbury)
with 11 digs.
As a team, Lesley had seven total blocks while Wentworth had five
team blocks.
The Lynx will be back in action tomorrow night, March 4 at 7:00 pm
against Mount Ida College while Wentworth will not play until March
18 at 7:00 pm at home against Emmanuel College.
