BEVERLY, Mass. – For the second time in exactly one week
the 13th-ranked Endicott men's volleyball team posted a 3-0
win over Lesley University in an NECVA New England Divisional
match-up. The Gulls' B.J. Worth (Londonderry,
N.H.) had a game-high nine kills in the win. Endicott
moves to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in league play while the Lynx fall to
2-11 and 2-8 in the conference.
Endicott coasted to an easy 30-12 win in the opening set behind
five kills from the reigning AVCA National Player of the Week
A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y.). Both John
Emery (Westford, Mass.) and Matt Devendorf
(Glastonbury, Conn.) also chipped in with four kills in
the set. The Gulls hit at a .519 clip in the opening game
victory.
In the second, the Blue and Green posted a 30-14 win that included
five kills from sophomore Joshua Bruno (Andover,
Mass.). B.J. Worth helped close out the third set with
seven kills on 10 swings.
Worth finished the night with a .529 hitting percentage, committing
no errors on 17 attempts. The senior also shared the team-lead in
digs, posting seven with teammate Matt Devendorf, who also finished
with seven kills. David Olson (Chelmsford, Mass.)
and Andrew Boughey (Madison, Conn.) chipped in
with five kills, while Ben Foster (Penfield, N.Y.)
dished out 23 assists in just two games. Jeremy Schlosser
(Emmaus, Pa.) had 15 assists in the third set.
Lesley got seven kills from senior middle Mike Jack (Buenos
Aires, Argentina), while classmate Nick Assad
(Andover, Mass.) had six kills and five digs.
Stephen Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had 15
assists in the losing effort.
Endicott, winners of its last nine games, retakes the court on
Friday evening when the Gulls host Daniel Webster College for a
7:00 p.m. tilt with the Eagles. Lesley looks to halt a six-game
skid on Saturday afternoon when the Lynx travel to Boston to meet
Wentworth.
