CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University men's
volleyball team lost to Endicott College on Wednesday by the score
of 3-0 (30-16, 30-12, 30-12), dropping their 2010 season record to
2-9 (2-6 NECVA, 2-3 NECC). Endicott continued their unbeaten streak
in NECVA New England division play, improving to 10-4 (5-0
NECVA).
The Gulls showcased a wide range of talented players in the match
with junior Jordan Durant (HONOLULU, Hawaii/Maryknoll
School) leading all attackers with nine kills with just
one error. Durant also served up four aces in the match. Senior
John Emery (WESTFORD, Mass./Westford Academy) and
sophomore Joshua Bruno (ANDOVER, Mass./Andover)
were also solid on the attack with six kills apiece.
Lesley's leader in this match was senior Scott Wheeler (EAST HAMPTON, Conn./East Hampton) who despite 10
errors, registered a team-high six kills.
Lynx setter Stephen Siragusa (VALLEY STREAM, N.Y./Valley
Stream) dished out 17 assists while a pair of Endicott
setters, Ben Foster (PENFIELD, N.Y./Penn) and
Jeremy Schlosser (EMMAUS, Pa./Emmaus) combined 44
assists. Schlosser got the majority of the work as the sophomore
tallied 28 assists.
Endicott's Emery dominated the first set by recording all six
of his kills. The Gulls never trailed in the set and Foster, who
played just the first set of the match, had dished out all 16 of
his assists.
In the second set, Endicott was effective on serve with six aces,
three by Durant.
Endicott sophomore Andrew Slocum (BURNT HILLS, N.Y./Burnt
Hills-Ballston Lake) spiked home four kills in the third
set as the Gulls cruised to victory.
Lesley will be in action on February 22 with a home conference
match against Newbury College starting at 8:00 pm. Endicott hosts
the Endicott Invitational on both Saturday and Sunday this
weekend.
