Lesley Tri-Match recap versus LBC and Mount Ida

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's volleyball team hosted a Tri-Match on Saturday January 19 against NECVA opponents Lancaster Bible College and Mount Ida College.  The Lynx lost to Lancaster Bible College 3-0 and to Mount Ida 3-1.

In the first game against Lancaster Bible College (13-30, 21-30, 23-30), the Lynx fought hard against a very good Chargers team.  Freshman Mike Labagh (Elizabethtown, Pa.) led the team with eight kills on 25 total attacks.  Defensively, Labagh had five solo blocks, one block assist, and six digs.  Sophomore Nick Assad (Andover, Mass.) was effectively as well, tallying five kills on 19 attacks.  Assad also contributed with three solo blocks, one assisted block, and six digs.

Against New England division opponent Mount Ida College (25-30, 23-30, 30-16, 24-30), Lesley kept each game close but were unable to mount a comeback against the Mustangs.  Labagh was stellar again, as his 13 kills, 12 digs, and nine service aces led the team in those categories.  In this match, sophomore outside hitter Scott Wheeler (East Hampton, Conn.) came up big with nine kills on 22 attacks.  Wheeler also totaled 10 digs.  Assad was also impressive with nine kills and eight total blocks.  Setter Clayton Janer (Guilford, Conn.) had 14 assists on the match.

The Lynx will be back in action on Tuesday January 22 against Wentworth Institute of Technology and Thursday January 24 against Johnson & Wales in two crucial NECVA conference matches.
