THE LEAD – Thomas College visited Lesley University in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader on Saturday, April 20. The day concluded with a double sweep with an overall score of 9-0 and 9-0 in favor of the Terriers who improve to 9-2 on the season while the Lynx fall to 0-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Match 1)

  • At No. 1 doubles Terriers Gabe McPhail and Liam Gould took on Nick Rosen and James Ontiveros. The terrier duo would pick up the win winning with a set score of 8-0.
  • At No. 2 doubles Seb Soto and Calvin Cutler took on DJ Cronin and Miles Brajdic. Soto and Cutler would win their doubles match 8-2.
  • At No. 3 doubles Caleb Daigneault and Nick Magiera took on Bennett Locke and Jason Habes. The Terriers pairing would find themselves on top winning with a set score of 8-2.
  • At No. 1 singles McPhail would take on Rosen, taking care of business winning both sets with relative ease 6-0, 6-0.
  • At No. 2 singles Soto took on Ontiveros. Soto would find no issue winning both sets against Ontiveros with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
  • At No. 3 singles Gould would take on Habes. Gould would ease his way to victory winning both sets 6-0, 6-0.
  • At No. 4 singles Cutler would take on Cronin. Cutler would win both his sets in dominating fashion with scores of 6-1, 6-0.
  • At No. 5 singles Kegan Rodrigue would take on Brajdic. Rodrigue would coast to victory winning both sets 6-1, 6-2.
  • At No. 6 singles Magiera would take on Aidan Stafford. Magiera would find little resistance as he would waltz his way to victory winning 6-1, 6-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Match 1)

  • It is believed that the doubles pairing of Habes and Locke is the combined tallest duo in the nation among Division III men's tennis players as the duo stands at a combined 13 feet 3 inches.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Match 2)

  • At No. 1 doubles Terriers McPhail and Gould took on Rosen and Ontiveros. The match ended with a score of 8-1 in favor of the Terriers.
  • At No. 2 doubles Terriers Cutler and Soto took on Cronin and Habes. The match would conclude in an 8-0 score in favor of Thomas College.
  • At No. 3 doubles Terriers Danny Kezerle and Daigneault took on Stafford and Francisco Sosa-Gomez. This one would go in favor of the Terriers duo winning 8-3.'
  • At No. 1 singles McPhail would take on Rosen. McPhail would win both sets against Andersen 6-2, 6-1 score.
  • At No. 2 singles Soto took on Ontiveros. Soto would end up winning in a closely fought match 6-0, 6-0.
  • At No. 3 singles Gould would take on Locke. Gould would find his stride against Locke winning both his sets 6-0, 6-1.
  • At No. 4 singles Cutler would take on Cronin. Cutler would finish on top in a winning both sets in convincing fashion 6-0, 6-2.
  • At No/. 5 singles Rodrigue would take on Bradjic. Rodrigue would win both his sets against Brajdic 6-1, 6-2.
  • At No. 6 singles Magiera would take on Stafford. Magiera would beat Stafford soundly with set scores of 6-2, 6-2.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS (Match 2)

  • The Lynx have been blanked six times this season. Three times in a row to open the year and are currently on a three-match scoreless stretch.

UP NEXT

  • Lesley will resume its matches originally played on April 14 vs. VTSU Johnson a week from today on April 27 to complete its 2024 slate.
  • Thomas returns to the court on Wednesday, April 24th at 3:00 PM vs Castleton at the Castleton Tennis Courts in Castleton, Vermont.
