Men's Soccer Eliminated From NECC Tournament by ENC

GAME OVERVIEW:

QUINCY, MA. -- The Lesley Men's Soccer team lost their NECC Semifinal match by a score of 5-0 to the Eastern Nazarene Lions. The Lions will move on to face New England College in the NECC Men's Championship, while the Lynx have their season come to a close.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • ENC took their lead early, thanks to two goals from Leonardo Castro. The first came in the 19th minute from an unassisted shot in the box, with the second coming off a feed from Michael Frotscher in the 25th minute to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
  • The lead was stretched to three a few minutes later, which was the total the Lions took into halftime. This time, Sheelens Ostine passed it on to Guillermo Garcia for a one-timer that got past Lynx goalkeeper Michael Bolduc.
  • Castro completed a hat-trick in the second half, with Jorge Gonzalez and Bryan Vargas picking up assists on his third goal in the 54th minute. The Lions were up 4-0 and added one more to finish out the match and move onto the championship. Gonzalez followed up his assist with a goal of his own, this time assisted by Garcia.
  • NECC Men's Goalkeeper of the Year Tyler Ferreria earned the win after saving all five shots on net. AJ Genova and Daniel Monteserin each had three shots for the Lynx, while Castro led his side with six.
