CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Newbury College mens soccer team upset visiting Lesley University today in a thrilling overtime 2-1 victory on a rain-soaked field in Chestnut Hill, MA. Andi Maska (Roslindale, MA/English) led his squad with an assist in the first half and the game-winner just over three minutes into the overtime period.

The Nighthawks jumped on the board early as Maska found freshman Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, MA/Winchester) for his third goal of the season after just 17 minutes of play. Lesley kept the pressure on, however, as they took six shots throughout the half, but could not net the equalizer until after the break.

At 72:38 Connor Stockton (Quogue, NY/Westhampton Beach) scored off a cross from Ari Sinanis (Guilford, CT/Guilford) to tie the score at one a piece. Despite an additional ten shots by the Lynx offense, the game headed into overtime. In just over three minutes Maska found the back of the net off a quick pass from teammate Joseph Lawer (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) to give Newbury their third NECC victory of the season and the second place position within the overall conference standings.

The Nighthawks take the field for another conference match-up on Saturday, October 17th when they travel to Elms College for a game beginning at 1:00 PM. Lesley will host Wheelock College on Thursday, October 15th at 8:00 PM.
