CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley senior point guard John Sanchez has been named All-New England Collegiate Conference First Team for a second straight season, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The Carson, CA (Saint John Bosco) product was twice named NECC Player of the Week and earned D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors this season, ranking among the league leaders in several categories. He led the NECC in assists (125), assists per game (5.0) and free throws made (180), finishing second in points per game (18.2), steals (62), field goal percentage (.502) and free throw percentage (.857).

Twelve times the 5-foot-8 point guard scored 20 or more points this season, and twelve times he played all 40 minutes in a game. His last-second jumper defeated Plymouth State on January 31, and two games later on February 5, he scored career point No. 1,000 in a win over Southern Vermont. Lesley's No. 2 all-time leading scorer, his 180 free throws this season broke his former record of 179 set in 2011, and he owns the school record for career assists (397) and steals (162).

He led the Lynx to the program's first-ever in-season tournament title, averaging 20.5 points, five assists and four rebounds over two wins at the New England College Tip-Off Touranment. For the season, he led the Lynx to a 11-14 record, finishing 7-9 in NECC play and falling a game short of a league playoff birth.
