Lynx get defensive in win over Eagles

NASHUA, NH -- Lesley held Daniel Webster to 35 percent shooting and outrebounded the Eagles 44-28 in snapping its four-game slide with a 64-61 road win in NECC play.

Junior John Sanchez led a trio of Lynx in double figures with 16 points. Jesus Trejo added 13 points and nine rebounds and Thorton Paul chipped in with 11 points.

A Myles Mungcal three-pointer gave Lesley an early five-point lead, 8-3, and a Bryant Itonyo three later extended the lead to 24-16. From that point on, Daniel Webster finished the half on an 11-1 run spanning the final 4:02 of a half led almost entirely by the Lynx to steal a 27-26 halftime lead.

The Eagles scored seven straight points in taking a 36-29 lead out of halftime. An Eric Suarez jumper upped Daniel Webster's lead to eight, but Lesley used its own 7-0 run featuring two Sanchez buckets and a Mungcal three-point play to take its first lead of the half, 54-52.

Suarez hit a pair of free throws to give the Eagles back a one-point lead with 1:45 left, but on the ensuing possession, Harold Smith's layup put Lesley back on top for good. Trejo and Paul each hit a free throw each to make it a 64-61 game, and Keith Speed's final-second three pointer missed as Lesley snapped its four-game slide.

Speed, Suared and John Hickson all scored 13 for the Eagles.

Lesley returns to action on Thursday, playing host to Becker at 8 p.m.
