SPRINGFIELD, MA -- A  13-0 first half run distanced Trinity in the championship of the Western New England Golden Bears Men's Hoops Classic, as the Bantams topped the Lynx , 79-56, Sunday night.

Lesley's Jesus Trejo (Metheun, MA/Metheun) and John Sanchez (Carson, CA/Saint John Bosco) were named All-Tournament Team. The reigning New England Collegiate Conference rebounding leader, Trejo turned in his first double-double of the season on Sunday, posting 10 points, 10 boards. For a second straight day, Sanchez made 11 or more free throws with only one miss, hitting 11-12 today after a 15-16 effort from the stripe in Saturday's 71-65 win over host Western New England.

Freshman Grant Cobb's (Plymouth, MA/Wayzata)  three-pointer put the Lynx on the board with a 3-0 advantage, which would be the Lynx only lead. A 13-0 run marked by seven points from Mick Distasio put the Bantams out in front by 10 just 4:00 into the contest. A three from Thorton Paul (Boston, MA/West Roxbury) cut the lead to eight a minute later, and a Sanchez three that reduced the deficit to nine at the 12:00 mark would be the last time the Lynx got to within 10.

A three from Tournament Most Outstanding Player Luke MacDougall put Trinity ahead by 17, 37-20, at the 6:00 mark, and the Bantams went into halftime with a 15-point lead, 44-29. Distasio led all scorers with 15 at the midway point, while MacDougall added 11.

Sanchez led the Lynx with 10 of his team-high 17 points in the first half. Lesley hit 3-4 from downtown, but a scorching 8-11 shooting from three-point range from Trinity in the first half was too much to overcome.

A 12-4 run out of intermission capped by a Brian Ford three opened up a 21-point Bantams lead, and Trinity led for 20 or more the majority of the remainder. Trejo completed his double-double with a layup in the final minute, cutting what was as much as a 33-point lead in the final 4:00 to 23, as the Lynx fell 79-56.

Now 1-2 in its Division III slate, Lesley travels to Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
