Leicester, Mass. – Sophomore guard Terrance Favors
(Boston, Mass.) scored 21 points and grabbed 6 rebound in just 24
minutes as the Becker College Hawks defeated Lesley University
83-61 in men’s basketball action. With the win the Hawks
remain undefeated in New England Collegiate Conference action
improving to 11-7 (7-0 NECC), the Lynx fall to 7-12 (4-4 NECC).
The Hawks came out of the gates flying outscoring the Lynx 21-2
over the first eight minutes and shot an incredible 53% in the
half. Becker was led in the first half by Favors who had 13 points
on 6 for 8 shooting along with 5 rebounds 3 assists and a steal.
Junior guard DeJohn Exum (New London, Conn.) added 10 points, 3
rebounds and 4 steals in the half. Lesley struggled in the half
shooting only 32% from the field and the Lynx committed 16
turnovers. Junior Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) paced Lesley with 8
points and 7 rebounds. The Hawks held a 24-14 edge on the boards
and went into the locker room with a 46-24 lead.
Becker continued their tenacious pace in the second half building
leads of over 30 points; the Hawks role players played most of the
remaining twenty minutes. Starter Rajai Leggett (New Haven, Conn.)
finished with 15 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. Markus Wright
(New Haven, Conn.) came off the bench and contributed 11 points and
pulled down 5 rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
The Lynx were led by Trejo who finished with a double double, team
high 20 points and game-high 13 rebounds. Also in double figures
was guard Jonathan Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) with 10 points.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday when the travel to Southern
Vermont College for a NECC match-up beginning at 3:00pm.
