Lynx hold off Colonels to win 79-71

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Four Lesley University men's basketball players were in double figures in a 79-71 victory over Curry College in the consolation game of the Bridgewater State College D'Angelo Tip-Off Classic.  Lesley improved to 2-3 on the season while Curry continues to be winless at 0-3.

Jonathan Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) and Nijel Robinson (Plainsboro, N.J.) tied for a team-high in points with 17 a piece as the Lynx tallied their highest team point total of the season thus far.  Cruz hit 7-of-11 shots from the floor and registered seven assists, four steals and a block in an impressive overall performance.  Robinson was part of a Lesley offense that hit 52.9% of their shots from three-point land, as the junior was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) continued to dominate in the low post for the Lynx as the sophomore center finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks in 32 minutes on the court.

Guard Matt Grassa (Everett, Mass.) had his best game of the young season, tallying 11 points on 4-of-4 from the field with five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

The Colonels had two players with 20 plus points as Quashed Simmons (Paterson, N.J.) and Mark Mastrullo (Billerica, Mass.) led the offense with 24 and 22 points, respectively.  Daniel Singh (Lawrence, Mass.) gave a solid effort with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Lesley will next travel to Eastern Nazarene College for a 8:00 pm game on Tuesday, November 25.
