#12 Elms defeats Lesley 90-59

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Lesley University men's basketball team fell to the #12 ranked Elms College Blazers on Thursday evening 90-59, dropping their 2008-2009 record to 5-19 (2-11 NECC).  With the victory, the Blazers improved to 23-1 (13-0 NECC).

The Lynx had two double-digit scorers in the game as Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) led the team with 16 points and six rebounds.  Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) recorded 12 points, 18 rebounds, and added two blocks in the loss. 

Elms used a balanced offensive attack and forced 34 Lesley turnovers en route to victory.  Juan Galdon (Holyoke, Mass.) and Ronald Thomas (Chicago, Ill.) both scored a team-high 14 points for the Blazers.  Dan Gonzalez (East Windsor, Conn.) and Aswad Thomas (Hartford, Conn.) also hit double-figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Thomas nearly recorded a double-double with nine assists and also added six steals to an overall impressive performance. 

The Lynx will end their season on Saturday, February 21 at Daniel Webster College starting at 1:00 pm.  Elms, who clinched the inaugural NECC regular season championship with the victory, will host Newbury College on the same day at 2:00 pm.  The Blazers earned a first round bye in the NECC playoffs and will host the championships starting next Friday evening.
