Nationally ranked Blazers hand Lynx 72-37 loss

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In a match up of New England Collegiate Conference opponents, the #16 ranked Elms College Blazers defeated the Lesley University Lynx 72-37.  The victory improved the Blazers' record to 14-1 (4-0 NECC) while the Lynx drop to 3-10 (0-3 NECC). 

Thirteen Elms players scored points with Juan Galdon (Holyoke, Mass.) leading the way with 11.  Javon Mathis (West Hartford, Conn.), Antoine Holder (Hartford, Conn.), and Luis Santiago (San Juan, Puerto Rico) were key parts of a Blazers bench that outscored the Lynx 46-2 as the trio scored 10, nine and eight points a piece. 

While the Blazers offense was effective, their defense helped maintain control of the game.  Elms forced 32 turnovers which converted into 34 points.  Aswad Thomas (Hartford, Conn.) tallied a team-high six steals in the game. 

Lesley was led by Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) who in 39 minutes on the court scored 15 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, 18 of which were defensive.  Jonathan Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) was the only other Lynx players in double-figures as the sophomore guard netted 11 points. 

The victory was the fourth straight win for the Blazers since their lone loss of the season against Regis College on January 4.  Tonight was also Elms' seventh win in eight meetings with Lesley.  The Lynx suffered their third straight defeat.

Lesley will next visit Wheelock College on Thursday, January 22 starting at 7:00 pm.  Elms will also travel to Wheelock on Saturday, January 24 for a 3:00 pm game.
