Mark Stevens lights up Wheelock College

BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Mark Stevens (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored 28 points against Wheelock College to help stop a five-game losing streak for the Lesley University men's basketball team.  With the 77-62 victory over the Wildcats, the Lynx improved their record to 4-10 (2-2 North Atlantic Conference).  Wheelock drops their record to 1-15 (0-5 NAC).

Stevens did most of his damage in the first half, scoring 20 of his 28 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.  To go along with his offensive effort, Stevens grabbed seven rebounds and had four steals on the game.

Guard Joe Chatman (Boston, Mass.) struggled shooting just 18.1% from the floor but was near perfect from the line, hitting 10-of-12 free throws.  Chatman ended up with 15 points to go along with four steals, two assists, and two rebounds.  Freshman center Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) nearly recorded a double-double scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds.

The first basket of the game was netted by Wildcats forward Alex Thayer (Seekonk, Mass.) which was rebutted by a Stevens three-pointer.  The Lynx would not relinquish the lead the rest of the game.

Despite the loss, Wheelock had a quality performance from Sherard Robbins (Malden, Mass.) who had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks.  Thayer and Jarred Lynx (Pawtucket, R.I.) also played well contributing with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Lesley will next face Castleton State College on Friday evening followed by Johnson State College on Saturday afternoon.  Both games will be at home.
