Keene State College Tournament Tip-Off Day 1

OWLS ROLL TO SEASON OPENING WIN OVER ENC 103-65                                                           

KEENE, N.H. 11/11/06 -  Nick Drouin (Weare, N.H.) came off the bench to score 20 points and pull down seven rebounds to lead  the Keene State College men's basketball team to a season-opening 103-65 victory over Eastern Nazarene College in a first-round game of the KSC Tip-Off Tournament at Spaulding Gym on Friday.

The Owls will face  Lesley University in Saturday's championship (7 p.m.).

Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.) had 15 points, Brandon Robinson (Jericho, Vt.) added 14 points, and David Sontag (Mont Vernon, N.H.) finished with 10 points for the Owls.

The Owls gradually pulled a way from the Crusaders in a fast-paced first half.  A three-pointer by Sontag put KSC ahead 35-19 at the 6:08 mark.  Drouin then went to work scoring the Owls' final nine points of the half as KSC took a 47-28 lead to the locker room.

Drouin finished with 15 points and six rebounds in the first half.  Luc Jasmin (Pawtucket, R.I.) topped Eastern Nazarene with 13 first half points.

Following an extended halftime when everyone had to leave the gym when the fire alarmed sounded, the game continued.

The Owls ran away from the Crusaders in the second half.  After ENC got the lead down to 14 (56-42), the Owls went on a 19-8 run to build up a 27-point cushion.

Jasmin had a team-high 21 points and Dave Duda (Brunswick, Me.) added 14 points for ENC.

It was the first meeting between the two teams on the court.       

SECOND GAME:  LESLEY SHOOTS DOWN MARYMOUNT  100-89

KEENE, N.H. - Joseph Chatman (Boston, Mass.) had a game-high 31 points and former Keene State Owl Stanley Chamblain (Everett, Mass.) finished with 22 points to lead Lesley University to a 100-89 victory over Marymount (Va.) University in the second opening round game of the KSC Tip-Off Tournament played in Keene on Friday.

 Lesley will play host Keene State in Saturday's championship game (7 p.m.). 

 Marymount will place Eastern Nazarene in the tournament's consolation game at 5 p.m.

 The two teams were deadlocked 44-all at the half.  Chatman had 15 points and Chamblain added 14 first half points for Lesley.  Fred Stanback (Springdale, Md.) had 12 first half points for Marymount.

 Lesley took command of the game midway in the second half behind a barrage of three-pointers.  The Lynx opened up an 11-point lead (77-66) on a three-pointer by Jimmy Parker (Sandwich, Mass.) with 10:38 to play. Parker nailed six three-pointers and Chatman and Chamblain hit three from behind the arc in the game.

 Stanbeck had 26 points and Mike Gray (Alexandria, Va.) finished with 24 points for the Saints.
