Colby-Sawyer defeats Lesley

New London, N.H. - In non-conference action on Thursday evening, the Charges of Colby-Sawyer picked up their 10th win of the season, downing the Lynx of Lesley University 89-64 at the Coffin Field House.  Five Chargers scored in double-figures in the win, the final game of the regular season for Colby-Sawyer.

The Chargers fell behind early to the Lynx, going down by as many as six points, 14-8 with just over four minutes gone by in the opening frame, but the Chargers came storming back, tying the game at 14 all with just over 13 minutes left to play.  After trading baskets, the Chargers took the lead for good with nine minutes left to play, thanks to a lay-up by freshman Chrispatrick Cox, (Barre, Vt.) 19-17.

At halftime, the Chargers had built a 26 point lead, 51-25, a lead that proved to be too much for Lesley to return from.

With just under a minute to go, the Chargers held their largest lead of the contest, a 28 point advantage, 89-61 thanks to a jumper in the lane from freshman Will Clemmer (Windham, Me.).

For the Chargers, freshman Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) led the way, pouring in a career high 20 points and corralling six rebounds and adding four assists in the win.  Sophomore Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) added 15 points, senior Tyler Fournier (Westbrook, Maine) added 12 in what could be his final appearance at the Coffin Field House, and freshman David Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) and sophomore Andrew Cousins (South Portland, Maine) each added 11 points.

For Lesley, Stanley Chamblain (Everett, Mass.) led the way, scoring 20 points in the defeat.  Michael Lush (Chelsea, Mass.) added 13 as the only other Lynx player to score in double figures.

Colby-Sawyer (10-14, 8-8 CCC) returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 20 when they will travel to their opening round game in the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament.  Their opponent is yet to be determined, contingent upon the outcome of this weekend's games.
