Lesley improves conference record by beating UMF

FARMINGTON, Me. - It took overtime but Lesley was able to outlast Maine-Farmington to improve to 7-5 in the NAC.  The Lynx forced 33 turnovers and defeated the University of Maine at Farmington 79-75.

The Lynx were led by James Parker (Sandwich, Mass.) who scored 24 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.  Parker hit a season high seven three's, shooting 7-15 (46%) from deep.  Joe Chatman (Boston, Mass.) added 19 points and five assists, and Michael Lush (Chelsea, Mass.) had his most productive game this season as he went for 17 points.

Farmington was led by Isaac Hutchinson (Oakland, Me.) who had a game-high 26 points.  Sean Fry (Jay, Me.) and Pat Howell (Bristol, Me.) added 16 and 13 points of their own.

Despite shooting a meager 25% from the floor in the first half Lesley only trailed by one at the half.  Lesley would heat up in the second, but Farmington would get hot along with them and pace them the rest of the way.  The Lynx shot 43% from the floor and 47% from three-point range in the second half.

The Lynx exploded out of the gate in the second half and led by seven with 13:33 to play.  Farmington would come back and just three minutes later Ted Neil (Strong, Me.) would hit a jumper to bring the Beavers to within one.

Lesley would try to pull away again and with 7:13 remaining they led by six.  Once again Farmington wasted no time responding and trailed by just two points two minutes later.

With a minute remaining Lesley found itself trailing 69-68.  Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) would hit 1-2 free-throws that would tie the game.  Neither would score again in regulation and the game would be decided in overtime.

In overtime the Lynx seized control early and relied on solid free-throw shooting to secure the win.  Lesley shot 6-9 from the charity stripe in the extra frame en route to the 79-75 win.

With the victory Lesley improves to 11-10 overall and 7-5 in the NAC.  The Lynx travel to Vermont next weekend to take on Johnson State and Castleton State.  For more information on the Lesley men's basketball team please go to their website.
