Six Student-Athlete Receive NAC Weekly Awards

NAC Weekly Awards - Six Lynx were chosen to bring home various disctintions in the first week of awards issued on Monday September 6, 2023.

Women's Soccer: 

Player of the Week

Haile Carrillo-Hayes, Lesley University
Senior | Forward | Chatsworth, California
Senior Haile Carrillo-Hayes helped lead the Lynx to two opening weekend victories with a pair of game-winning goals and four points for the week. Following a scoreless first half, she charted Lesley's first goal of the day against Wentworth Institute of Technology, on a second-half breakaway shot assisted by Abby Kalou, propelling the Lynx to a 2-0 victory. The goal was her first of the season, and her 11th career goal. Lesley was able to grab its second win of the season in a match against Simmons University, with Carrillo-Hayes able to find the back of the net just 13 seconds into the match off of a pass from Chase Livesey.
 
Defensive Player of the Week

Lauren Lacy, Lesley University
Junior | Goalkeeper | Colorado Springs, Colorado
Lesley goalkeeper Lauren Lacy managed to help the Lynx post a shutout performance on the defensive end in their matchup against Wentworth. Lacy held the Leopards scoreless in net during the final 45 minutes and secure the 2-0 win in the annual "Cats Cup" between the two institutions. In Sunday's match against Simmons, Lacy spent all 90 minutes in the net and held the Sharks to a scoreless game while earning the 5-0 win. She posted 1.5 shutouts this week and a 0.00 GAA, with two wins under her belt to start the season. 
 
Rookie of the Week

Sage Henry, Lesley University
First Year | Forward | Milford, Pennsylvania
First year forward Sage Henry collected her first collegiate goal in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Simmons University. Henry's unassisted goal came in the 28th minute of the match, just two minutes after entering the game. She played in both games in the opening weekend for the Lynx, finishing with a total of four shots with one shot on goal.

Runner of the Week

Hannah Nangle, Lesley
Junior | Lowell, Massachusetts
In Lesley's season-opener at the Fitchburg State Jim Sheehan Memorial, junior Hannah Nangle posted a third-place finish in the 5K event with a time of 21:42.7, running a mile pace of 6:45.6.

Rookie of the Week

Dawson Romito, Lesley
First Year | Boxford, Massachusetts
In the first meet of the year, the Jim Sheehan Memorial XC Race hosted by Fitchburg State, first year Dawson Romito placed first for the Lynx. Romito bested the men's field of 42 runners with a time of 29:26.1 on the 8K course, running mile splits of 5:55 for the Lynx and finishing the race four seconds ahead on the second-place finisher. 

Women's Tennis: 

Rookie of the Week
Mary Osucha, Lesley
First Year | Knoxville, Tennessee
Mary Osucha made her collegiate tennis debut on Monday and ended the day with two wins under her belt in the Lynx' 5-4 victory over Curry College. Osucha teamed up with Jessica Legendre to post an 8-7 victory at no. 1 doubles, including a convincing 7-2 win in the super-tiebreak. In singles play, Osucha notched a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Curry's Serena Wilson.
