Men's, women's cross country picked first in preseason polls

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Lesley's men's and women's cross country teams have both been picked to finish in first place by the New England Collegiate Conference's coaches, the league announced Tuesday.

Both teams captured all first place votes, with all seven men's coaches picking the Lynx to win a fourth straight NECC title and all seven coaches selecting Lesley's women to earn a fifth consecutive championship.

The men will be led by junior Kyle Casiglio, a former NECC Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year who finished second at the league championship in 2011, and sophomore Evan Reseska, the 2011 NECC Rookie of the Year who placed third at last season's league meet.

Junior Leah Miller and senior Noa Kupfer lead the Lynx women into 2012. Miller earned 2011 NECC Runner of the Year honors, a title held by Kupfer the previous two seasons. Fellow All-NECC First Team performers Anastassia Lutkevich, Keryn Thorvaldsen and Kat Vicino also return from last year's squad.

A challenging 2012 schedule kicks off on Saturday, September 1, when both Lesley teams run in The Fens Classic, held in Boston and hosted by Emmanuel College.
