Thorvaldsen sets school record at UMass-Dartmouth

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA -- Senior Keryn Thorvaldsen set a new Lesley record, placing 14th out of 293 runners at the UMass-Dartmouth Shriners Invitational, leading the Lynx to 15th place out of 38 teams on Saturday.

Thorvaldsen, the league's reigning Women's Runner of the Week, led the Lynx with a school record time of 18:56 over the 5k course. Junior Leah Miller placed 23rd, finishing 10 seconds after Thorvaldsen at 19:06.

Reigning New England Collegiate Conference Runner of the Week Max Bulger led the Lynx men, coming in 61st place out of 293 with a time of 26:34 on the 8k course. Lesley's Andy Scott, last week's NECC Rookie of the Week, followed Bulger in 81st place at 26:55.

As a team, the men placed 17th out of 39 teams.

Both teams have next Saturday off before returning September 29 at Gordon College's Pop Crowell Invitational in Wenham, MA.
