CAMBRIDGE, MA – Head coach Dan Flynn announced his cross country teams' 2012 schedule, which has a challenging new look that he hopes will prep his teams for November's championship races.
"This fall will be exciting," said the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference Men's and Women's Coach of the Year. "We are competing in a couple of new invitationals to prepare our athletes for the bigger championship races in November."
Among the new meets are the Trinity Invitational, hosted by Trinity College in Connecticut's Wickham Park, and the James Early Invitational, which is hosted by Westfield State in Westfield's Stanley Park.
"Wickham Park is home to the Connecticut High School State Championships and many of our runners will be excited to return and race that very tough course," Flynn said. "The James Early Invite is an opportunity for our runners to gain some familiarity with a course that they will run on for the NCAA Regionals. I am hoping we learn a lot from that race that will translate into a better performance when it counts in the end."
Both of the Lynx defending NECC Champion teams will run the Trinity Invite on September 8. The teams will visit the James Early Invitational on October 6 with select runners returning on November 3.
The Lynx will open 2012 with another new invitational on September 1 in Boston at The Fens Classic.
