Lesley XC Sweeps the President’s Cup

Newton, MA – Both the Lesley University men's and women's cross country teams won their respective races on Saturday, August 28.  The 2nd Annual President's Cup was a tri-meet between Lesley University, Lasell College, and Newbury College.  Lesley shined as they walked away with both victories.  Lesley also had the top female and top male finisher.  Noa Kupfer (Woodbridge, Conn.) won the women's race and set the course record.  Kyle Casiglio (Shelton, Conn.) won the men's race and also set the course record.

The true highlight of the day was the Lesley women getting a perfect score of 15.  The first five finishers were Lesley women.  Ana Lutkevich (Mansfield, Mass.), Jess Foster (York, Pa.), Kat Vicino (Westport, Mass.), and Leah Miller(Thomaston, Conn.) finished behind Kupfer.  All four of them are freshmen and very talented.

In the men's race, the Lynx had a strong showing from Chris Conforti (Brattleboro, Vt.), Brian Axelrod (RIVER VALE, N.J.), and Max Bulger (Portland, Maine).  They gave a solid effort in the race and earned the team 29 points.

The rest of the men's team rounded out a total score of 29 points for the Lynx which was good for sixth place out of eight finish teams at the invitational.  Lesley finished ahead of fellow New England Collegiate Conference team Mitchell College who were the eight place team.

"Two team titles, two individual winners, two course records, and a perfect score.  I would say that is a great day.  I think the team sees its potential and we have a lot to build on for the rest of the season.  Overall, there are several things to get excited about," says Coach Dan Flynn.

Both teams will run in the Smith College Invitational on the campus of Smith College on Saturday, September 11 starting at 10:00 am.
