THE LEAD – The Lesley University Cross Country program opened its 2024 fall campaign at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College.
LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Hannah Nangle (Lowell, Mass.) posted a PR time in the women's 6K race with an 18th place finish, clocking in at 25:23.2.
- First year Becca Hall (Richmond, Vt.) made her collegiate debut with a time of 28:19.9, good for 40th overall.
- In the men's race, newcomer Johnny Maldonado (Chelsea, Mass.) was the first Lynx to cross the finish in the 8K field with a time of 41:28.7, cracking the top-100 with a 95th place finish.
WINNING PERFORMANCES
- Ryan Outerbridge and Angel Mendo Alonso posted a 1-2 finish in the men's race to list Franklin Pierce to the team win, scoring 28 points. Outerbridge bested his teammate by a mere two-tenths of a second, with a winning time of 26:26.3 compared to Alonso's 26:26.5 showing.
- Rachel Brennan represented the hosts well with a 21:17.4 time for the individual crown for Gordon but it was Wellesley College taking home the team victory, edging out Gordon with 42 points for the women's team crown.
UP NEXT
- The Lynx are on the course again this weekend, Saturday, September 21 when they head to the Codfish Bowl at the Franklin Park course.
