THE LEAD— The Lesley University women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference affair Wednesday evening vs. the University of Hartford, 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-8), at Minuteman Gymnasium in their final home contest of the 2024 campaign.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks got out to a quick start, racing ahead to an 11-1 lead to open the action serving up nine aces in the frame to pick up the 25-9 first set victory.
- Lesley played Hartford tough in set two, evening the score at 9-9 midway through the set but the visitors closed the set strong with a 6-1 flurry to seal the 25-14 second set win.
- After trading points to open the third, the Hawks put the match away with 13 straight points behind the service game of first year outside hitter Tiffany Mendez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) to cruise to the 25-8 win and take the match, 3-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jenna Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) led all players with a match-high eight kills, hitting .462 to pace Hartford.
- Shae Thomas (Clayton, N.C.) served up a pair of aces for the Lynx in the setback.
UP NEXT
- Lesley heads to Waterville, Maine on Saturday, Nov. 2 for its season-finale vs. Thomas College at 1:00 PM in NAC play.
- UHart hosts University of New England the same day at 2:00 PM in a Conference of New England clash.
