THE LEAD – In their second meeting this season, the Lesley women's volleyball team fell to the Fisher College Falcons, 3-0 in nonconference action Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a quick 5-0 start to the opening set, Lesley got on the board thanks to a Falcons service error and cut the deficit to four (5-1). However, Fisher's offense went on a 12-3 run (17-5) before Lesley had to use one of its timeouts. During the run, Caroline Saucier paced the offense with two service aces, whereas Alicia Tkach added three kills and a service ace of her own.
- Coming out of the timeout, Lesley was able to get a few points back, including an ace from Korinne Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.) that made it a 12-point deficit (20-8). Despite the ace, the Falcons closed out the set on a 5-2 run (25-10).
- In set two, it was all Fisher as the Falcons opened the set on a 15-0 outburst which included ten service aces from Sofia Campos. After Lesley got on the board thanks to a Falcons service error, Fisher's offense secured a set two victory with another large run (10-6) for a 25-6 set victory.
- However, in set three, it was the Lynx who pulled ahead early. Early in set three, Lesley jumped out to their largest lead on the evening (9-4) thanks to multiple Fisher attack and service errors. Fisher ended up evening things at nine thanks to five quick points with three of those points being Olivia Hamel kills.
- With things tied at nine, Lesley reclaimed the lead thanks to two service aces from Hall-Johnson and a Falcons service error that made it 12-9.
- Both sides continued to play back and forth, and Lesley found themselves down one (16-15). From that point, the Falcons ultimately pulled away with a 9-3 run for the 25-18 win.
