THE LEAD – Husson University combined to hit .419 as a team to plow past Lesley University, 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-17) in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's volleyball action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Eagles set the tone for the night racing out to a 9-1 lead in the opening set and cruising to a 25-7 win, scoring the final 11 points in the set behind the service game of Mikayla Gray.
  • The Lynx reset and opened set two with three straight points to take an early lead but Husson answered a 9-1 run to swing momentum. The hosts kept the set within striking distance up until a 13-10 score before HU rolled off 12 consecutive points to close the frame with a 25-10 win.
  • The hosts trend of saving its best volleyball for the third set continued as the Lynx managed 17 points in the final frame but it was not enough as the Eagles took the match, 3-0, via the 25-17 third set sweep.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Husson sophomore Janna Preskorn finished with a game-high eight kills and six aces, while fellow sophomore Alana Peruti tallied six kills. Senior Alyvia McIntyre dished out a game-high 26 assists.
  • Lesley first year Korrine Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.) shared the match-high in dig count with eight.
  • Sophomore Shae Thomas (Clayton, N.C.) had a productive match with a team-high five kills, three assists, three digs and two aces.
  • The Eagles finished the night with 18 service aces as a team and only seven attack errors while holding Lesley to a -.059 clip.

UP NEXT

  • The Lynx host UMaine Presque Isle tomorrow in a doubleheader slated to begin at 11:00 AM.
  • Husson is idle until next Friday when they take on Maine Maritime Academy.
