THE LEAD – Fisher College needed a third set rally to hold on for a sweep over host Lesley University, 3-0, Tuesday night in collegiate women's volleyball action at the Minuteman Gym in Lexington, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons cruised in the first two sets, holding the Lynx to single digits it both frames.
- In set one, Fisher rattled off nine straight points behind the service game of Alondra Farinacci to open up a 9-5 lead all the way to 18-5, and then using a 7-2 spurt to close out the Lynx in set one, 25-7.
- LU first year Alawnah Dunda's (Fort Ann, N.Y.) solo block early in the second set pull Lesley to within two at 6-4 before Fisher collected seven straight points thanks a run by Edsyl Irizarry behind the service line, serving up four aces during the spurt to move the score to 13-4, Fisher. The visitors closed the set strong with another 9-0 flurry to coast to a 25-6 win and move the match to 2-0.
- Lesley regrouped in the third and played some of its best volleyball of the season. The Lynx raced out to a quick 3-0 lead including an ace by sophomore Mariah Febo (Boston, Mass.) and later in the frame scored five consecutive points with Dunda registered a pair of aces during the run to give the hosts a 15-7 lead.
- The Lynx led by as many as seven in the final frame (17-10) but the Falcons rallied. The visitors trailed 21-15 before flipping the switch and rattling off the final 10 points of the set with Sofia Campos serving up four aces including the final three points of the match for the 25-21, 3-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Fisher served up 20 aces in the win including nine from Campos.
- LU first year Korrine Hall-Johnson (North Brunswick, N.J.) paced the Lynx with a team-high 11 digs.
- Irizarry finished with a match-high 13 digs while Campos added 10.

- Lesley is back at home on Friday, September 27 for their 2024 NAC opener vs. Husson at 7:00 PM.
