Volleyball Earns DH Sweep Over Gators

GAME OVERVIEW:

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- Lesley women's volleyball earned their first two victories of the season, in a non-conference double header sweep of Pine Manor College Monday evening.  The wins bring the Lynx to a 2-3 overall record, while the Gators drop to 0-2.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE, Game 1:

  • Lesley opened the series with a 3-0 sweep, not allowing the Gator's to reach ten points in either of the sets. 
  • Pine Manor notched the first two points of the match, but Lesley then went on a 14-1 run to take 14-3 lead and command control of the night.
  • The spurt was highlighted by five service aces in a row from Elise Morgan.
  • Morgan opened set two with another five service aces and jumped to an early 8-1 lead.
  • Three kills and four service aces by Lesley's Cassidy Wygonik gave the Lynx an 18-3 lead, en route to the set two win.
  • Set three saw similar dominance by the Lynx and never let Pine Manor get close.
  • Morgan and Wygonik combined for 23 service aces and 15 kills.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE, Game 2:

  • Lesley rolled right into game two keeping the pressure on Pine Manor with another three set victory (25-9, 25-6, 25-9).
  • Morgan had a double-double, netting 15 kills and 12 service aces.
  • Junior Allison Napoleon set up the offense for the Lynx, tallying 19 total assists in the game two victory.
