Lynx Split in Non-Conference Tri-Match

(NEWTON, Mass.) – The Lesley University women's volleyball team split in a non-conference tri-match on Friday evening, defeating New England College , 3-1, and fell to Mount Ida College 3-1. The Lynx improve to 5-6 on the season while the Mustangs move to 9-6 and the Pilgrims become 5-10 overall.

Game Two: Lesley 3, New England College 1

After dropping the first set 25-12, Lesley (5-6) came from set point down to take the second set 27-25 before seizing the match with a 25-13 win in set three and sealed the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth.

The two headed attack of Wygonik (14 kills) and Deluga (15 kills) paced the Lynx, along with 37 assists from Goldberg.

Deluga had a double-double with 16 digs, while Abbruzzese led all players with 20 digs, along with seven service aces and nine kills.

Six had a team-high 18 digs for the Pilgrims (5-10), who got nine kills from Dreka Griffin (Calera, Ala.). Kayleigh MacDougall (Farmington, N.H.) added 12 digs and five kills, while Serrano posted 15 assists and four service aces in the defeat.

Game 3: Mount Ida 3, Lesley 1

Mount Ida took the opening set 25-20 but Lesley tied the match with a 25-16 win in the second set. The Mustangs took care of business, beating the Lynx 25-22 and 28-26 in the final two sets to claim the win.

Reidy had 15 kills and 31 digs to lead all players, while Bell assisted on 41 points. Sophomore Katherine Eastwood(Amityville, N.Y.) had 14 digs in the win, and Rachael Colombo(Walkill, N.Y.) put forth a ten-kill effort.

For the Lynx, Anni Abbruzzese (Croton-Hudson, N.Y.) paced the offense with 14 kills, helping Tallin Goldberg to a 34 assist night.

Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) went for a double-double with 13 kills and 19 digs, and Cassidy Wygonik added 11 kills in a losing effort.

 

The Lynx will travel to U-Mass Dartmouth for a tri-match against the Corsairs and the Keene State Owls. Times set for 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
