Abbruzzese, Deluga Lead the Way as Women's Volleyball Race by Bulldogs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University juniors Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) and Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) combined for 30 kills to lead the Lynx past Dean College 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-11) in non-conference action tonight at the Nicholas Athletics Center.

The dynamic duo notched 15 kills apiece while Deluga added 12 digs and Abbruzzese four as Lesley, winners of three of their last four, improve to 9-12 overall on the season. The Bulldogs, who entered tonight carrying a three game win streak, fall to 7-14 overall.

Lesley junior Sarah Hollis (Hudson, Mass.) aided the Abbruzzese and Deluga with eight kills of her own while freshman Kelsey Dobbins (Henniker, N.H.) added four. Senior Vera Bednar (Helmond, Netherlands) dished out a match-best 24 assists and junior Allie Charron (Barnstable, Mass.) doled out 12 helpers. Senior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) dug up a team-best 13 digs to anchor the Lynx defense.

Sophomore Kiara Castro (Queens, N.Y.) paced the Bulldogs with four kills while sophomore Kaitlyn Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) added a trio of kills to go alongside two solo blocks. Castro also led the team with seven assists and freshman Samantha Mulcahy (Taunton, Mass.) posted a match-high 19 digs.

Lesley will return to New England Collegiate Conference action on Wednesday night when they travel to Newbury College at 7:00p. Dean will be back on the court and return home tomorrow night and play host to Fitchburg State University. First serve for the match is set for 7:00p.
