Anna Maria Offense Too Much for Women's Volleyball

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College tandem of Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) and Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) combined for 33 kills as the host AMCATS downed Lesley University 3-0 on Thursday evening in non-conference women's volleyball action. The Lynx, who had dominated the series between the two schools with 12 straight wins dating back to 2004, fall to 3-10 on the season while AMC improves to 12-7 overall.

Foti and King were tough do deal with on the offensive side all night long. Foti tallied 17 kills on a .424 hitting percentage and King was close behind with 16 kills on a .467 hitting effort. Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) set up the duo and the rest of the AMC offense with a team-high 32 assists.

The AMCATS totaled 11 service aces as a team, led by King and Foti with three apiece. Clancy and Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) both finished with two, while Kerri Earle (Bethel, Conn.) tallied one.

Lesley junior Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) led the Lynx with nine kills, seven digs, and one service ace. Fellow junior Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) added seven kills while classmate Sarah Hollis (Hudson, Mass.) and senior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) each knocked down a pair of kills. Reynolds added a team-best ten digs on the defensive side of the ball while classmate Vera Bednar (Helmond, Netherlands) dished out 15 assists.

Lesley will be back on the court on Saturday when they travel to Elms College for a tri-match starting at 11:00a. The Lynx will battle the Blazers in a New England Collegiate Conference bout in the first match of the day before facing Castleton State College in a non-conference matchup at 1:00p.  

Anna Maria also returns to play on Saturday when they travel to Lasell for a tri-match against the Lasers and Rivier. First match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
