Rams Charge Through Women's Volleyball

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Framingham State University in a non-conference match tonight at the Nicholas Athletics Center. The loss drops the Lynx to 2-8 overall on the season while the Rams – who are winners of seven of their last eight matches after starting the season 0-4 – improve to 7-5.

Lesley junior Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) powered the Lynx attack with nine kills on a .400 hitting percentage while classmate Sarah Hollis (Hudson, Mass.) added five kills. Senior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) picked up a match-high 12 digs on defense while fellow senior Vera Bednar (Helmond, Netherlands) led the team with 17 assists on the offensive side. Freshman Kelsey Dobbins (Henniker, N.H.) finished with five kills.

Framingham State senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) led all players with a match-high 17 digs while swinging .351 on 37 attacks on the night. Junior Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) added eight kills and freshman Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, R.I.) added seven kills and led all players with five aces. Junior Molly Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore Molly Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) split setting duties with 18 and 13 assists, respectively.

The first set was tight throughout and the teams were knotted late at 19-19. The Rams would go on to score six of the next eight points to close out the set 25-21 and take a 1-0 match lead. Rackliffe led the way in the set for the visitors with seven kills on a .312 hitting percentage. Deluga paced the hosts with four kills while swinging .500 in the set.

The second set was all Rackliffe and Framingham State. The Rams jumped out early and rolled to a 25-14 set win. Rackliffe once again powered the offense with another seven kills with a .462 hitting percentage. Leonard chipped in with four kills.

Holding a 16-12 lead in the third set, the Rams went on a 9-2 streak to close out the set and the match with a 25-14 third set win. Rackliffe was the main cog once again in the set, finishing with three kills while Leonard, Fish, and Meehan each added one.

The Lynx will be off for the next week and return to play on Thursday, September 29 when they travel to Gordon College for a 7:00p matchup. Framingham State will be on the road on Saturday and head to Westfield State for a tri-match with the Owls and Elms College starting at 11:00a.
