CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's volleyball team delivered Eastern Nazarene College their first loss of the season, earning a 3-1 decision tonight at the Nicholas Athletics Center. The Lynx even their record at 2-2 while the first blemish drops the Lions to 2-1 on the young season.

Lesley junior Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) led the charge for the hosts with match-high 22 kills while swinging .400 on the night, while also providing a team-best 17 digs on the defensive side. Classmate Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) also boasted a double-double of 14 kills and 14 digs and fellow junior Sarah Hollis (Hudson, Mass.) registered a career-high with 12 kills and eight assists.

Senior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded 16 digs and Vera Bednar (Helmond, Netherlands) and junior Allie Charron (Barnstable, Mass.) spilt setting duties with 19 and 17 assists, respectively.

ENC senior Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) starred offensively for the Lions with 17 kills while hitting .289. Junior Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) led all players with 26 assists and classmate anchored the defense with a team-high 17 digs. Sophomore Viviana Coix (Warrensville, Ill.) and freshman Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with 12 and ten digs, respectively.

The Lynx trailed 21-17 late in the opening set before back-to-back Hollis kills sparked an 8-2 run capped by a Deluga slam as the Lynx completed the comeback to take a 1-0 match lead.

The second set was equally as tight throughout and a Joseph ace gave the Lions an 18-17 edge. An ENC error followed by two straight kills from Deluga quickly gave the Lynx a two-point advantage and two Hollis aces would close out the set and allow the hosts to stake a 2-0 lead.

ENC would get cut the deficit in half in the third as they used a 5-1 spurt to build a 21-15 edge before taking the set 25-21. Junior Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) powered the offense with four kills in the set.

The Lynx would take control of the fourth set early as junior Ciara Bruning (Centerville, Mass.) served the hosts to a 7-0 run to build a 12-5 lead. Deluga would knock down nine of her kills in the fourth as the Lynx clinched the match with a 25-16 victory.

Lesley will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Standish, Maine for a non-conference battle with St. Joseph's College.
