Women's Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match at Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Lesley University women's volleyball team earned a pair of victories this afternoon in a tri-match with Becker College and Pine Manor College this afternoon at the Leicester Gymnasium. The Lynx, now winners of four straight and nine of their last ten, improve to 12-7 on the season and 4-0 in the NECC.

The Lynx won both matches 3-0 and used set scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25- 16 in the day'sfirst match against the Hawks before retiring the Gators 25-14, 25-14, and 25-11.

The Lynx will return to Cambridge on Thursday night as they host NECC foe Newbury College at 8:00p at the Nicholas Athletics Center.

Match One: Lesley 3, Becker 0

Lynx sophomore Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) powered the attack with a team-high 12 kills while classmate Sarah Hollis (Hudson, N.H.) added eight kills. Senior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) finished with seven kills while Danielle McDonald (Lilitz, Pa.) anchored the defense, leading all-players with 18 digs. Fellow senior Emily Marden (Fremont, Calif.) dished out 29 assists.

Becker's Kayla Dupree led the hosts with 12 kills while adding one solo block and helping out on three others. Samantha Caouette added five kills for the Hawks while setter Charlene Landry assisted on 24 kills. Brittney Bullis led Becker with 17 digs while Erin Sacharanski added ten digs on defense.

The Lynx hit .167 on the day compared to just a .043 percentage for the Hawks while the guests also held a 38-28 advantage in digs and a 60-54 edge on digs.

Math Two: Lesley 3, Pine Manor 0

Deluga and senior Anthea Rathjens (Sudbury, Mass.) led the Lynx in the second match of the day as the duo each knocked down nine kills. Deluga's nine kills came on 13 attempts with just one error for a robust .615 hitting percentage while Rathjens swung an impressive .368 on the day.

Sophomore Ciara Bruning (Centerville, Mass.) added eight kills while Hollis added five in the match. Marden led all players with 26 assists while McDonald once again led the defense with 12 digs.

Pine Manor's Rachel Julien and Mary Owen each finished with five kills while Natasia Franklin added three. Ashley Whiteshield dished out 13 assists in the loss as the Gators fall to 3-18.
