BENNINGTON, VT -- Southern Vermont topped Lesley in three sets Sunday afternoon, with Danielle Johnson leading the Lynx with five kills in the Lynx regular season finale in New England Collegiate Conference women's volleyball play.

Johnson added four digs to her team-high five kills, while senior Kaitlyn Miller added four kills to go along with a team-best nine digs. Freshman Danielle McDonald added eight digs as the Lynx fell to 7-14 overall and 4-4 in the NECC.

The Mountaineers were led by Sheilani Kaleopa, who fired a match-high 11 service aces, and Jessica Alvarez, who led all players with 11 kills on 23 attempts.

Southern Vermont sprinted to a 13-3 lead in each of the first two sets, earning a 25-6 win in the opener and cruising to a 25-8 Game 2 victory. Johnson's second kill of the set put Lesley in front 5-3 in Game 3, but the Mounties responded with three service aces, two from Alicia Manzo, in a 7-2 run that put the home team ahead for good. Miller's fourth kill of the afternoon brought the Lynx to within 18-16, but Southern closed its 25-18 Game 3 victory on a 7-1 run fueled by two Alvarez kills.

After closing NECC play at 4-4, Lesley now travels to Daniel Webster College for Wednesday's NECC Tournament First Round matchup. The contest marks the third straight postseason in which the Lynx have traveled to Nashua. Miller earned All-Tournament Team honors in leading the Lynx to an NECC championship at Daniel Webster in 2010, but the Eagles bested Lesley 3-0 in ending the Lynx season in 2011.
