Women's volleyball falls at St. Joseph's, 3-0

STANDISH, ME -- Senior Kaitlyn Miller led the Lynx with eight assists, and Alyson Finbow added three kills as the Lynx dropped a 3-0 decision, 25-13, 25-9, 25-12, at St. Joseph's of Maine  Thursday night.

Lesley battled to within 10-9 to open the first set thanks to a pair of kills from Tori Hoefs,but the Monks rattled off six unanswered points to take a 16-9 lead en route to a 25-13 Game 1 triumph to take a 1-0 lead on the match.

As it played out, St. Joe's would not trail again for the remainder of the evening. The Monks opened Game 2 on a 12-3 run. With Lynx sophomore Rachel Frederickson serving, Lesley cut the margin to 14-6 but could pull no closer in the Monks 25-9 win.

A Danielle Johnson service ace brought the Lynx to within 5-4 to open the third set, but a 5-0 Monks run followed as St. Joe's took a 10-4 lead, and five was as close as the Lynx would pull the remainder of the way.

Johnson tied Finbow for team-high honors with three kills, and freshman Danielle McDonald totaled a team-best 12 digs in the loss.

At 2-5, Lesley takes on Wheaton College and Salve Regina in a tri-match on Saturday at Salve.
