QUINCY, MA -- Lesley split its season-opening tri-match at Eastern Nazarene, losing 3-0 to the Lions before turning around to drop Anna Maria 3-0 in non-conference women's volleyball play.

Outside hitter Megan Ortwein led the Lynx with four service aces on the day, as the Lynx open up 1-1 for the fourth time in the senior's four seasons. Sophomore Danielle Johnson led the offense with 11 kills on 42 attempts for a .182 hitting percentage, and Ortwein followed with a combined nine kills on 40 attempts for a .150 average.

Alyson Finbow threw back four blocks, all in the Lynx 3-0 loss to Eastern. Freshman Donna Niosi enjoyed a stellar welcome to the college ranks, handing out 28 set assists to go along with nine digs and a solo block.

The Lions took advantage of early Lynx mistakes that set the tone for a tough early match, beating Lesley 25-9, 25-13, 25-15. Eastern jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening set, an advantage aided by six Lynx attack errors, and three Cayla Clinkscale kills put the hosts in front 12-2 in the second set. An Ortwein kill on a pass from Johnson pulled Lesley pulled Lesley to within six at 16-10 in the third set, but a Sam Losano ace capped a 4-0 run on which the Lions pulled away for a 25-15 win.

Ortwein led the team with six kills, while Danielle McDonald led all players with 12 digs in the loss.

Tricia Lawler's club regrouped and responded against Anna Maria, capitalizing on four Amcats errors to open up a 11-4 lead. A 5-0 run highlighted by two Kaitlyn Miller service aces put the Lynx in front 18-8 as Lesley cruised to a 25-17 victory.

A Lynx attack error found the team in a 7-4 hole in the middle set, but kills from Ortwein and Johnson sparked a 10-1 run on which Lesley stormed away for a 25-10 win. With the third set tied at 10-10, two Sandy Acosta kills saw the Amcats take a 14-10 lead. An Ortwein ace wrapped around a pair of Amcats errors forced an Anna Maria timeout with the game tied at 14-14, and a Johnson service ace started a 4-0 run that fueled Lesley's 25-19 win.

Johnson totaled seven kills and a match-best .158 hitting percentage in the win, while Ortwein anchored the defense with a match-high eight digs.

Lesley returns to play on Wednesday at Emerson at 7:00 p.m.
