Lynx women's volleyball makes a difference at Cradles to Crayons

BOSTON, MA -- Lesley's women's volleyball team volunteered this week at Cradles to Crayons, a Boston non-profit that provides clothing for low-income children.

With the season looming, the Lynx took a timeout from the team's preseason training to volunteer at the organization's Brighton location. According to the non-profit's website, "Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12 living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive - at home, at school and at play."

"You could see the magnitude of the impact [Cradles to Crayons is] making to help change the lives of people," said freshman volleyball player Donna Niosi.

"I had done some volunteer work with them in high school so I knew its mission, to help needy children from babies to 12 years old," said Niosi. "You could see the amount of people that they actually help."

Cradles to Crayons accepts volunteers and donations at its Boston warehouse at 155 Beacon Street in Brighton, 02135. The organization can be reached at 617-779-4700. Find the organization online at cradlestocrayons.org.

Added Niosi, "We all had fun. It was a good team bonding experience, so it helped us helped out community."

The Lynx open 2012 tomorrow in a tri-match at Eastern Nazarene against the Lions and Anna Maria College.
